From what I can remember none of the Kawartha lakes are open for ice fishing except for Scugog. I could be wrong but you just need to check the regs.

Unfortunately scugog is the only one open for ice fishing at all. Check your regs.
Cheers Jeff

I grew up in peterborough and can 100% confirm that Jeffw is correct..>Scugog is the only lake in that area open for ice...Rice, Chemong an Buckhorn and Pidgeon are all closed...rumour has it that in the next few year these lakes will be opening up on a rotating basis....The regs have improved on Scugog for this year as they have opend up Crappie for ice fishing where is has been closed in the past

If you move towars haliburton you will start to come across a lot more open lakes...one of my fav's is Jack's lake in Aplsey...they even have a road plowed for easy drive on access..crappie, walleye and pearch are the catch of the day

Actually, I'll have to correct myself since the new regs. came out. You can now only fish the trent river from just above dam 1 up about Stirling, since they now only allow winter fishing on the Trent that is in Sidney township. I'm not sure of the ice conditions yet, I'll be heading to the cottage this weekend to check it out. As far as current, Percy Reach would have the least amount of current since it is basically a lake. I called to argue a bit with the MNR, but that was pretty useless.
There are some sections that freeze nice and solid though. People regularily put huts out there for the winter season.

This is Percy Reach: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&saddr=&daddr=44.24938,-77.728872&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=14&sll=44.247351,-77.748356&sspn=0.042731,0.114155&ie=UTF8&z=14&om=1
