Red Near Lockport
« on: Dec 09, 2007, 12:59 PM »
Did my daily drive by the locks just now.

Two shacks and three vehicles on the river just north of the river access road.

I don't know how thick the ice is but I wouldn't be taking my new truck on there just yet.

thats nutz I'm curious as to whether its lack of education on ice thickness and how much weight can be safely be held up? or if its just lack of caring? truthfully i think there's already enough structure to fish on the Red.

After I saw this post I thought I would try Lockport out, The ice was good were those shacks were, I didn't check the ice thickness but it had to be around the 1' mark. I wouldn't drive out either, I hate driving out on the ice anytime, thats why I have a snowmobile. Oh I got skunked and my brother caught a small burbot, I told him to kiss it and send it back down the hole.
