Fishing Reports
« on: Nov 29, 2007, 03:07 PM »
When it comes to fishing I know that people have secret spots and things like that.  How many people actually post real reports on threats that your fishing hole may be overcome with people because of people that lurking on this site.   Also this is a cry out to all the lurkers !!!!  For those that look just trying to get reports become a member and share.  JUST DO IT !!!!!  LOL ( stole that from Nike )

I know I have a couple secret fishing holes that I wont give up because they are small and a little attention on the net I will be with 50 of my closest friends.  Therefor I will post reports but I wont tell you where.  I know that sounds selfish of me but I appreciate the serenity and solidarity of places I fish.  Sorry If this rubs people the wrong way.

I don't think it's at all selfish and believe most will agree wholeheartedly.  I share as much tip and technique info. as I can be rarely do I mention a pond by name for the same reasons you suggest.  Many of my "honey holes" I've fished since young and put a lot of time and effort into getting to know the spots, etc.  I think the people on the Maine board are the best when it comes to giving quality info.   Bottom line, a good tip, technique, or suggestion can work on any body of water, people just need to apply to the waters that interest them ;)

I guess it depends on where I was fishing.  Smaller waters where I usually am by myself I tend to keep to myself.  Larger waters where there is room for everyone I have no problem calling out but most people would already have heard of it anyway.

I always take reports from people with a grain of salt, unless they have pictures.  I mean I'm not a dink about it and don't call them liars but I was under the impression that a good fisherman is also a good exaggerator.  It's fun that way and I certainly expect people not to believe me either without proof.  Hearing all the fish stories and adventures,  true or imbellished a bit, makes the sport of fishing even more fun, at least that's how I look at it.

I will share my spots...Hell they are all well known anyways..And what works for you doesn't always work for me...It's how you jiggle your worm anyway..
Sometimes when I do share on here the post gets removed do to other fishermen complaining that I posted about that "secret spot"
I dont always beleive pic's that I see....They can be taken at other locations. ;)

It has something to do with the unknown for me I guess.  Did he really catch a 15lb togue outta there?  Maybe, maybe not.  Keeps you wondering of the possibilities, I suppose.

Yeah, it's also amazing what some people can do with photshop.

Well I just do what I can do not to lie. I Love to give up a spot I have found or fished, to the kids and Ice Shanty members. I also wait for a report back on that spot. To me there is no such thing as a secret spot unless it is private land or someone else's secret spot they showed me and asked not to mention. You see it's my job to promote fishing.  ;)

I will say how I did at a particular body of water, what I was using for bait, and what types of areas I was fishing, but I don't give directions to specific holes.  Can't wait to be able to post some reports this year because that will mean I'm on the ice ;D  good fishin

I have a few spots that I will not readily give up but most of the time I am looking for someone to fish with.  It's not a big secret where the crappie are though!

Is it getting close?  I would enjoy meeting you on the Ice again.  I'm so looking forward to another Maine trip!  (except the $3.70 for a gallon of fuel)

You can count on it!  I already have a kitchen pass so that's a non issue.... ;D  I really hope we can get something set up again for a get together this year.
