Whatever it's worth, the other day, I called one of the local licensing agents and was told the prices for res tags would be $80.00 for an annual and $40.00 for an annual for seniors over age of 60. Buddy o' mine told me he's only been paying $40. all these years, but he's nowhere near 60 years old. But I think what I always paid for one was 40 as a senior. (Yeah, I'm actually over the 60 mile marker.) Anyway, I asked the gal if the price had gone up this year, which is what I had heard happened and she said, nope, always been that price. In consideration of that, I guess I'll go ahead and fish it again, I think I'd like to ice fish Ray and Bull Lakes anyway. Anubody shed any light on that pricing deal, has it always been $80.00 for guys under sixty or did they slip a price increase in on us?

I am not exactly sure what the prices are but I know the "natives" are changing alot of their current hunting and fishing policies. I heard that the fishing permits were going to go up to 100 bucks and I know now that a non- native can not hunt on the reservation even if he is married to a native. I think with the new gaming laws, the natives are looking at the revenue that they are bringing in.....I would be interested in fishing Ray Lake (especially since I live about 6 miles away from it) and I have heard of big walleye being pulled out of there and I used to enjoy fishing bull lake and dinwoody when I used to live in Dubois. But I will not pay the additional money for the permit to do that...my opinion but fishing expenses are bad enough as it is.

I agree, that's a lotta clams to fish the res, I wouldn't even consider it except for the break seniors get. I only hung one wally out of Ray last year, had him on for along time, hanging straight down on the bottom and stripping line, got off without me ever seeing him. A fishing buddy who fishes it regular says they run 3-5 pounds consistently.
