Standing out in the ice town
« on: Oct 30, 2007, 05:59 PM »
      Hey everyone,
Every year me and the little lady go up to lake of the woods for an ice fishing trip and i was wondering if anyones got any advice on how to stand out and see more action when your fishing in the middle of a city of ice houses. Everyoes using glows and the same bait. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
  Loki

But seriously! ;D

Try getting away from the ice town and get into some new fish. Comunity holes can be good, but they are seldom the best spot to fish. For a lake as big as LOTW, get yourself some good GPS mapping software. The price tag may seem a little steep, but think of how much the gas cost to get you up there! I am a HUGE fan of Lakemaster out of Little Falls Minnesota, they have the best charts going right now. Check this link out.

Paint your Shanty hot pink and put neon bar lights in the windows, you will have the spot on the lake that everyone will want to be in.
If fishing was work I'd never be sick!

Skipper, you are very dead on with that.  I never understood why guys pile on top of each other (unless that's just their thing ???).  When we go up to the Cass/Leech area, we hardly see anybody, & kind of like it that way!

Stay mobile!  The schools move from shallow to deeper water in the morning, then back in the afternoon.  When they are biting, you don't need to stand out.
