Welcome Members of Team Alaska
« on: Nov 06, 2007, 12:19 AM »
Well we are just about there, on the verge of ice fishing more and more lakes as the days go bye. Many of you have already been hittting your favorite little spot and some are still waiting for thicker ice.  As we begin this new year of our annual ritual of spending long, dark and cold days on the hard water; I would like to take this time to welcome our new members to the greatest place on ice and not forgetting, I would also like to welcome back our seasoned veterans of Team Alaska.

Let me say that everyone who joins us here on IS in the Alaska forum and lives in the Last Frontier and of course ice fishes, belongs to Team Alaska, whether you are new to ice fishing or have fished on hard water somewhere else, you are now among the die hard hard water nuts of the Greatland.

To tell you whats going on we have some great things we are going to try and actually make happen this year. One of which is a meet and greet both in the Valley area and also here in the Interior. I am in the process of linking all the lakes info with a link to print off the bathymetric charts located on the State website to make it easier for us all, a one stop shop when you are in a hurry to get out and go fishing or just planning a trip to somewhere you've never been. Unfortunetly not the all lakes on the state site have these charts. If you happen to have one and no one else does you can scan it and send it or post it here in the lakes area; that is if you feel like sharing it with us.

We are also looking for sponsors to have a Team Alaska ice fishing tourney to tak eplace in the spring before the ice goes bad, date and place TBA. If we charge an entry fee and let anyone enter then the proceeds have to go to a good charity but if we do it as a group Team Alaska IS Members and just give out prizes then no foul as per the IS tourney rules in the General area. I plan on trying to make an events calendar section so everyone can let us know whats going on as far as events and such, so first on the list is an ice fishing seminar at Sportsmans warehouse in Fairbanks on the 17th of November, no exact time as of yet but make sure to register so they get enough interest in having it.

If anyone has any suggestions as far as events or things they would like to see or do or how to make our area better or maybe you would like to see something changed, please pipe up but keep it clean as this is a family rated forum.

Again welcom and have a safe and fun hardwater season .

Do you know if there will be an ice fishing seminar at Sportsmans warehouse in Anchorage?  I have 2 poles and a hand auger and no idea what I'm doing.

You came to the right place then. Anyone on here from your area will be glad to help you out. Just introduce yourself in the new mwmbers area and I'm sure someone would be willing to let you tag along so you could start learning the ropes.

Welcome aboard
