All I can say is Wow. He was pretty lucky to have been able to do what he did to get out of that situation with his life. Makes me think twice about going on the ice without a knife or atleast ice picks since i wont be tieing a sled to my waist  :)...............And on top of that for RAT to be so generous. Top notch service. a Everyone to stay safe this winter!!!!

I'm with you PPP, I think I'll be thinking about ice picks too. I like to snowmobile into remote lakes so you don't know always whats below you.

a good story, but you have to wonder about the ice thickness.  He had to know that the ice was not very thick or stable and he took some unneccessary chances.  I have lived with and agreement that I made with my wife years ago...  I will not walk on the ice unless there is six inches (yes, I still test it at the water's edge before I go out) and I will not drive on the ice unless there is a minimum of 12 inches.  After all, they are only fish.  Icefishing is my all time favorite sport, but I'm not going to risk my life and safety over it.

I agree with icy Mike - there is no fish worth me swimming for. Safety always comes first.

Ice picks area MUST!!
Don't tie the sleds rope to your waist.
Also use long enough rope to keep the sled and your weight apart from each other!

BE SAFE AND FISH WITH ANOTHER PERSON!

Good to hear he made it!
