I run my auger dry. I switched to Opti2 this year so I can use the leftover gas in my weed-eater and chain saws. The guy I talked to at Opti2 said I can also burn the leftovers in my car without harm.

I use Amzoil Saber synthetic oil and Sea Foam in my auger gas. I have never ran all of the gas out of my auger for storage. I put an extra cap full of Sea Foam in the tank, shake it up and start the auger and run it until I smell the Sea Foam in the exhaust fumes. After  it  cools down I pull the spark plug and pour some oil in through the spark plug hole and pull the engine over slowly a couple of times to coat the cylinder walls. Peplace the plug and your done. I have done it this way for 25 years and have never had a problem starting my auger or with the way it runs. A friend that is a mechanic told me to do it this way so the seals and diaphragm don't dry out during the summer. There are plenty people on here that run the gas out on here and claim that this is the right way. I guess both ways must be ok.  ??? :D ;)
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

How much oil?  Does this make it hard to start for the next season?

Hey IHF, how bad does running a gallon or two through your mower foul the plug? Sounds like a good way to use it up...

I haven't noticed any plug fouling because of the mixed fuel. I change plugs once a year any way and just decide to do it after I start using fresh gas.
May ol man winter blow a cool breeze up your shorts!
