Jig Head on tip up?
« on: Mar 01, 2007, 03:46 AM »
I was thinking about setting some up with a jig head. I would hook them like I would if I was dead sticking through the tail so they try to swim away and cause vibrations.

Has anybody tried this and if so how did it work?

Have not had much success.  ??? The fish would either drop the bait due to the hard jig or take the bait right off the jig. Found that split shot and a minnow were best for standard tip-ups

I use a jig and minnow for a dead stick and have good results why won't it work with a tipup.  I do use long shank jigs

use a floating jig head.... couple of split shot higher up.... eliminates the weight issue when the fish picks up the bait
