In PA the ice is starting to melt but we don't have the wind yet.
But there is rain on the way.

I feel you pain! It looks like it's going be last for about another 3 weeks here in northern NJ. It has been a better season for us this year compared to last.

The ice has actually deteriorated in Northeast Ohio (Portage Lakes) due to the warm temps & rains on Tuesday 2/20. We're now on the downslide of the ice-fishing season. (It came late this year).

Realistically, I'd be surprised if we have 2 more weekends of safe ice. Although night-time temps dropped below freezing, the waterways have had a good influx of melted snow raising the lake water levels and weaking the shoreline ice. The high winds of today (Thursday 2/22) hasnt helped extend the season either.

All indications are that our ice fishing season will end by mid-March.

lolspeaking of how windy it was today, my buddy took my shappell shanty out today, said the ice on the lakes was extremely slippery, got the shnaty up, started fishin for about an hour when all of a sudden the wind picked up and started blowing the shanty across the lake, said he slid about 15 feet before he could get it stopped, the only other guy on the ice told em as he was leaving that he though he was parasailing! Lol, i'll give it about 2 wks till ice is gone, still about 8-10 inches of ice on duck lake tho, good ice also,

We just about need extensions in some spots here.  I'm working on planning a trip north for the weekend after Easter in April.  Then, by the end of April, I should be able to get the boat on Lake of the Woods.

Of course, that would imply I actually go fishing occasionally.

the big water around these parts is breaking up (the great lakes waters and bays) but the inland lakes are still snow covered and and its cold again. so we may make a few without as much snow on top. lol. i drilled thru 13 inches last night...good solid ice still..but the big waters with this wind are starting to get very crappy very fast..which sucks.
