Marcum Cust Supt!
« on: Feb 21, 2007, 08:10 AM »
Early last winter I purchased a Marcum LX3. When I returned home from fishing on 2/11, I plugged the charger in to the DCS (Digital Charge System), expecting the DCS to tell me via its display that battery charging was in progress. Zero-zip-nada. Nothing was happening.

Closer inspection of the DCS showed a break in the insulation on the wires for the charger port, and that the bare wires were wrapped around each other. I emailed Marcum Customer Service on Mon (2/12), telling them of the problem, and asking for a estimate as to the cost of repair/replacement.

I received a prompt reply from Marcum, telling me the repairs would be covered under warranty and a RMA#. Sent the charger and DCS in on Weds (2/14). The replacement parts were delivered yesterday (2/20). This time frame included the weekend and Presidents Day.

Thanks Marcum!

I also purchased a LX3 this winter.  I had a question regarding my new purchase after it arrived, so I emailed Marcum in the afternoon.  First thing the next morning, I had my answer.  It was just a small thing but I appreciated the prompt responce.

Good job Marcum!  ;)

Well I have had the totally opposite results with the Customer Service at Marcum

My LX-5 arrived without a wall plug charger ..... that was over two months ago and I still have nothing to charge my battery with.

Their site says that they are totally sold out of the chargers and my guess is that I won't get anything before next winter.

My unit will be back at the store where I bought it and my money will be back in my pocket before then.

Totally pissed at the lack of Customer Service I have had with these guys.

Man that really sucks, sorry to hear that  :(

Was the box opened when you bought it?  Is this Marcum's mistake or the retailer's?  Sometimes suppliers want their retailers to deal with these issues.

Still not a good experience when you want use your hard earned purchase.  Good luck resolving this issue.

Maybe somebody from Marcum is on this site, will see your situation and rectify the issue.  Hope so for you, the season is winding down fast, I'd hate to spend money on a unit like that and have it sit there, I'd be ticked....Esox

Seaweed - Check your PM's ;)
Let me assure Seaweed this is not common practice at all for pieces to be missing but we know accidents can happen... This delay in getting you a replacement should not have occurred and we want to settle this quickly and apologize for your inconvenience.

Sincerely

Well the squeaky wheel got some grease.

Marcum had a charger sent to me today.

I had to pay duty on something that I had already paid duty on.... but hey I have a charger.

I must say that my third complaint after almost two months got through.  I had a message from the owner of Marcum assuring me that he was personally going to make things right.

They are also interested in what my unit's number was so that they can verify that there are no other units out there without chargers.  Nice.. I will send the info in.

I think I am going to contact him and say thanks tonite... and ask him for a free transducer for my boat for the hassle... and oh yeah... one of those ball caps might be nice too....  8)

Way to go Marcum.... another happy client.  Thank you.

I love the unit by the way.... amazing is a word for what it has done for my ice fishing.  Simply amazing.

I was pleasantly surprised today to come home to a package from Marcum... and in that package I found a nice LX-5 Hat.

Thanks go to everyone at Marcum and others who might have helped out along the way in getting me sorted out with my missing wall charger.   ;D

I love the LX-5.... it has helped me ice some nice fish this year.
