Aqua-Vu
« on: Feb 09, 2007, 03:27 PM »
I just got an aqua vu the past week. I would like to know if anyone had any tips to not spook fish away. I am still learning how to use it. Thanks

Try not to hit the bottom on your initial drop.  Sometimes, I think it actually attracts fish.  Its a great tool to help understand what is going on down there.  Combine it with a vex and you will outfish most.

My aqua-vu only draws fish. I  run it into rock ledges and brush and the fish will not show fear untill it touches them. It does not have a "PING" sound like depthfinders.

Some fish don't like the light. You can learn alot about the way they react to jigs & the way you jig your jig . I like to drill 2 hole with in 2 ' of each other & watch the way they react you can learn a whole lot. You have to watch bacause a couple of times i spent more time look'n for fish & watch'n them then i did fishin but its all fun that why i go is to have fun.

I had one and could hardly see anything on it in the lake I fish.  This lake was not even that murky.  I basically had to have it within a few feet of my jig or else you wouldn't see it.  It was more of a hassle then a help for me so I sold it and put that money towards my new Thompson Center.

I have the aqua vu scout XL and the best thing to invest in is a tri-pod the first couple times i used it with out one it was a mess. much easer to find jig and easer to move. they only cost about $15 and it is well worth it ;D ;D

I found a easy way to set up my Aqua Vu. I drilled a hole in the bottom of a five gallon bucket that would just allow the end to go through. Before I run it threw the hole I put a big rubber band on the cable. As I run the cable down I just keep moving It. This keeps the camera at a steady depth, and being the bucket is up side down it keeps the hole from freezing up. When your done fishing you can put all back together and store the Aqua Vu in the Bucket.

i have not had the probkem with my camera spooking fish. The best way that i have found to find my bait. Is to use the plastic fin and point it straight at the bottom. i try to keep it at least a foot or so above my bait.
i love the gander mountain discount.

yeah i have alos used the down viewing fin and that works good too. and i dont think i spook the fish because i tend to lower it slow and to let it sit there for about 5-10 min befor i start to fish. and i had a whole school of pearch swimming aroun my bait and my cam and ther were some big ones too but i caught the smallest one of the bunch. but i love my Aqua-Vu i will never fish with out it!

I would give Batteries Plus a call; If you don't have a location near you, they will ship it out.  I worked at the south hills Pittsburgh location for a couple years, and if they havn't changed, the part number will be slaa12-5f or slaa12-5f2.  The f or f2 is just the size of the terminals; make sure you get the smaller terminals so they will fit the cable on the Aqua Vu...

Battery Warehouse/ Battery Cell  in Seneca 814-677-6578 has helped me on odd battery's . Also E-bay . I have checked lowe's and home depot in the emergency light section . But be sure you get the 12V not 6V .

Any home security Alarm company would have them by the case. They are standard as battery back ups for most alarm systems and very easy to find. They should also have a very inexpensive charger board that could do both at one time.
