Highs, 1to4 above, are you going?
« on: Jan 12, 2007, 08:55 PM »
My boy is 5 1/2 and been pestering me everyday to go ice-fishin. That said I have been 4 times-done good....AND HE KNOWS IT! Had to put him off, until we went shopping for new bibs, coat, and boots etc. Wednesday we went to riverton and got him outfitted-good. I have no doubt his gear is good, and I know his body will stay warm.

OK they say it is gonna be a high of 1degree tomorrow, and sunday at 4 above! I am just worried that he won't let me know how cold his face and hands are........in fact I am sure he won't let me know anything, if any fish are being caught!
This is really a heart-wrenching situation, but I just can't see taking the risks.

So anyways are any of you guys in WY gonna brave the temps??????

Is it calm?  I went out yesterday to Fremont Lake over lunch, it was about 4 degrees and mostly calm.  I was completely bundled up and was actually more comfortable than last week when it was 20 degrees with a 5-10 mph breeze.

Had one on, lost it.

OK me and Bubba be on the hard-water by 8-8:30 in the morning! Going right back to the perch hole, I hope they are still there!
Cannot believe how pumped I am, gonna punch 4 or 5 and set him in old-reliable-hole....and give him the vpg and my fave jig-rod and same old buckshot-spoon that has landed 3 hundred perch.

I am so pumped, it's gonna be hard to go to bed!

.....I was concerned about my 5 year old!

But we went today....was quite comfy with no wind
Perch bit for about a 1/2 hour or so, the boy caught about a dozen while jigging in front of the VPG.

But then a breath of wind came out of the east, it was over watched probably 30-50 perch swim up to the jig........and they would sit and stare at it for eternity....then slowly drop back down and away. :(
Drove around the far loop, coyote crossed the road just past north muddy at about 11:45, popped 2 rounds at him. Only had my 1911, I am pretty good with it but a fast small target at 200yds only shot cause the boy urged me too. ;D

 How did you guys do??

hey folks I went out on Saturday and stayed until Sunday. We fished Muddy Bay and found the perch in the basin relating to a huge hump in 39 fow right off of  North Muddy camp ground. We caught about fifty before it got dark. The next morning I went out for about two hours and caught about fifteen more and the biggest three perch I have ever caught. two of them measured just under 12" and the other measured 13 1/4". My camera didn't work and I couldn't take a picture. I just read the rules this morning and I cant submit the fish for the tournament but I send you some pictures later. Gotta go, and good fishing.

We spent Fri an sat night at south muddy. Heater wouldn't work in the camper so we spent the two nights in the pickups. Caught a few nice ling the first night, sat we got 6 Bo's, 3 more ling and 18 perch, 2 eyes sat night one was 18'' the other21'', and 6 ling. Sun before we went home 23 perch, one eye 15",and 8Bo's.  Kinda slow for having 30 lines in the water,  but a lot of fun! ;)

There were three of us on the lake, my girlfriend and a buddy of mine.  Ill tell you guys and gals something, I bought a couple of chubby dartes last year and really had not used them a lot, but holy cow do they attract the fish. I could call the school of perch back to me in about 5-10 minutes. You guys should give it a try. So has anyone fished the sisters lately?

You know Ben, I used the hot perch pattern in a size 4 and the glow in a size 4. What I forgot to mention is that it seemed to attract the bigger fish. The fall is the reason that bait works so well. Its a slow and tantalizing wobble so all I did was snap it up 1-2 ft and let it fall to the bottom and hit the silt and bring it up and hold it stationary for a few seconds a foot above the bottom. I cant wait to use it for burbot this year.

Ocean, Doggbiter almost anywhere along any bank in 6 ft or less of water and mostly after sunset and before 10 pm. I start a line of 6 t/ups in 6 ft and string em out to 9ft or whatever...
