I don't know of the conditions as of now after the rain and warm temps, but last Friday 12/22 on the south side the aerator hole has increased as it always does, so I would stay away from the south side.  Now on December 6th I know on the north side ther was 4-5 inches of good clear ice, and I have not been back there since.  I am from Northwood, and just went and checked out thickness and never fished.  I am sure that it got thicker as they say there is 6inches at Farmers beach at Clear Lake and the north side of this lake should have produced at least the same amount if not more.

Basically drill test holes, bring a float jacket and ice picks, and let us know how you did and ice thickness.

Good Luck!!

I drove around the lake today and there was 2 tents up on the north side of the lake.  They were just a little south west of the new jetty and not up by the park shelter where most people normally fish.  I did get out and drill one hoel adn there was 5-6 inches of ice.  Didn't ogout and ask how the bite was as I didn't have enough time.

Won't be any ice fishing here anytime soon.  Drove by today and it looks like the wind and rain opened up the whole lake except for 1/4 of it to the North East and around the new fishing jetty.  That ice looked terrible and wouldn't trust it.  The open hole is only around the aerator but there is only a skim of ice, I wouldn't even guess an inch thick on it.

Here's to cold weather. ::)

Thanks for that report.
 I'm trying to remain optimistic about this ice thing. Guess I'm a "the glass is half frozen" type of guy .. ;D

On Friday there was 5 inches of good ice with it popping a bunch.  Sorry about not getting the ice report on here sooner.  Don't know anything about a bite though.

We were there Sat for half hr before being called away. I want to go back and give it a fair shot. There was 4" when we were there.
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!!! Fish On!!
