Friday 1/12 adventure on the KING.
« on: Jan 13, 2007, 09:21 PM »
As you may have guessed it's open water but some good things to report,Wellsy a "client" and I set out to jig some lakers yesterday on the KING but as the weather would have it,the wind was howling out of the south-southwest and made some vicious whitey's and nearly 4' rollers. We decided to keep the 14' craft in the safety of the Northwest Bay and salvage the day pounding some perch, and that we did. They were right where we suspected them to be and the bite was rediculous.Glad to report that the surface temps (according to my fish finder) were anywhere from 33-35 degrees.Maybe....Nah I won't even say it...here are a couple of pics.

The "green monster" sails again.

Wellsy with the first...a dinker.

Me with a decent one.

Wellsy with a monsta!!

Sink full of dinner.

First of all thanks to Iceenut and the open water guide service, it was a little bit crazy for a while trying to combat those big rollers it was set after set and they were pushing waves about two feet apart. So no chance for a smaller craft out on the open lake.
But the perching was hot and heavy. I don't have photo bucket set up yet, but the sink at my house was swimming with perch as well.

Time to think about ice,
Wellsy

Basin and Huddle will usually go first wind or no wind 8)  They are very protected and could easily skim over tonight and if so, they could lock up by the weekend
