It was above freezing up till this past Thursday and then a calm night and 9 degrees allowed it to skim over.  then a few more nights of the the low teens to singles helped.  Now we have 5" of snow on the ground so who knows.  Man, I hate checking ice when there's snow.  A tornado would come in handy right about now.   ;D  Either way, I'm gonna check again Wed. and will be hopefully going next weekend.  More as I know it...

Just got back from checking lake miami. It was open along the dam and had about an inch of slushy snow ice everywhere else.

-7 for a low tonight.  13 for a high tommorow.  Don't think the 4" of snow will hurt us too bad.  I'm sure Friday there will be allot of choices around here.  Where/What is Miami?

Just checked Fort Des Moines Pond.  2.5"  Drilled a couple of holes.  going to give it a few more days of the cold stuff.   Good lookin' hard clear ice though. It was open water last Thursday.  Not allot of snow on top either.   ;)

My buddy saw a shack on Big Creek last night.  I know Fort Des Moines has 3.5" and I assume Hooper has about the same.  Everything around her should be just fine for the weekend.  It's supposed to be high 20's but 20's still make ice jut not as fast as -5.  ;D  I know I'm fishing all weekend and Friday if I can.
