Vexilar FL-20
« on: Jan 05, 2007, 01:26 PM »
Has anyone used a FL-20 yet? I'm considering it over an FL-18 and wanted some feed back on it.

Thanks
Raymond

I have the fl-20 w/ dual beam. Have used it over the side of the bass rig in the last 3 wks and impressed so far. had a fl-8. I put it on 6' zoom in 20 fow and worked great. See a blip caught a fish. LOVE THE DAY LIGHT DISPLAY.

I got an FL-20 Ultra Pack Dual Ducer for Christmas and have used it twice, it works great. I don't think it is any better than the FL-18, I would definitely get the Dual Transducer if you intend to fish both pan fish and lake trout like I do. They are both great models and you can't go wrong with either one, most of my fishing buddies have the FL-18 and we fish right next to each other and they see the fish the same. One thing is if you fish at night a lot the FL-20 does have night modes which makes the display not as bright and saves battery power. One nice feature of the FL-18 is the lip around the display, on the FL-20 there isn't one, if you alway keep it in a bucket for transporting it you will be fine, but in my opinion it makes the FL-20 screen more likely to become scratched.  Good luck.

I have a FL-18 and love it, but if I was buying now I would buy the FL-20 because it doesn't collect rain or snow on the screen and has better visibility. As far as seeing the tear drop or fish I don't really see much dif.   Empty Hook

Empty hook is right on the money!  If you are looking to purchase your 1st flasher or upgrade from the FL-8....get the FL20.  If you already have the FL18, your not going to catch more fish with an upgrade to the FL20.

Good luck with which ever one you decide on ;)

Thanks for the info. I don't currently have a flasher of any kinda and have seem first hand how it can better the fishing. I'm curretly keeping my eye on a FL-20 that's on e-bay. Price seems better than I can get it in the store. I'll let you know how I make out.
