I fished it last wednesday for about an hour. Had Tons of hits then hooked what looked like some baby burbot? :-\ I moved about 100 yards and iced a 12 inch bow. Nothing grand. The first hole i punched was about 50 or so yard off the dock. then i moved closer to the bank, right bank if you are standing on the dock. about 75 yards out or so. Thats were i iced the bow.

Iv never fished there before and had some time to kill before i had to head to work at the airport....

Those burbot lookin fish would be Blackfish.......Wish they were Burbot.

Delong has always been a good producer for me, as have the following-Taku, Jewel, Otis, Cheny, Otter, Clunie, Fire, and Sand lake.  As far as where I fish on Delong, I usually start close to the dock and work my was around the lake either to the right or left.  As with ice fishing any lake I move every half hour to 45 min. until I find "THE" hole, often times it isn't my favorite hot spot (or even close) on the lake.

I have caught some of my best fish (most too) out of the lesser known Lakes..........If there's a crowd I won't even get out of my truck, truck on to the next one.

I've had some good days on Lake Otis, nothing big but good numbers (Rainbows).  I'd hit it soon if you want to give it a try as the cold temps and thicker ice it will probably winterkill this year.  I access the lake via a friends property, there is public access though, get the directions on adf&g's site.  Nothing like being the only fisherman on the lake, even if you are in town.  Go get'um ;D

You gotta lovve talking about all these popular lakes.  I give you credit though, that's the first I've heard of someone talking about lake Otis.  I haven't been there in a lonime, and yes, it does winterkill, so hit it hard and quick and take your limit without worry.

Delong is neither here nor there.  Them blackfish are filthy though, the only place I ever caught one was through the ice at Delong.  kept it in the fishtank for over a year before someone decided to poor too much beer in the tank due to a wierd science experiment.  i've also seen those blackfish come from Taku.

But here's an idea.  You want brute trout in Anchorage and good numbers too.  Lets put it this way, best day I've had in Anchorage on the ice had to be Beer-Can lake (or as the books call it, campbell Point Lake).  madhouse with Rainbows, char, and landlocks, but its simply a numbers game at this lake.  Size has to go to Sand.  I've knocked out 20 inch landlocks, awesome Lakers, char, raibows, and Pike but really, it can be tough ame on this lake for numbers.  usually better in march.

Top Lake in my book in Anchorage has to be university Lake right behind APU and the native hospital.  I used to live on this lake and graduated APU.  Has native rainbows plus stockies plus the rainbows here are fed on wild salmon smolts and eggs.  Some absolute hogs in this Lake, and when you find the school, its a madhouse of action and each feels like it'll never come up.  Have caught some pig dollies in university, I even remember back in the late 90's catching silvers through the ice when the lake froze in early october.  Man, if I had to spend my money on bait for any lake, that would be it.  And no blackfish.

Hope this info helps.  Want more, just PM, I'll see what i can help you out with.

Well the son and I tried Delong lake on Saturday.  Caught a handful of 15-18" rainbows before the landlocked salmon feeding frenzy began.   Had a few ice fishing newbies show up and one particular 5 year old caught his first ever fish, through a 10" hole.  The fish might be small, but the quantities are sure entertaining! ;D
