Devil's Lake ice fishing guide’s
« on: Jan 23, 2024, 09:30 PM »
Anyone have any experience with guides around Devils lake? I would like to get some first hand information from folks who have fished up there in the past. Thanks in advance.

Toward end of Feb I’m going up with lake country guide service in sno bears. Reasonable rates I felt like. Don’t have any experience with them though. I’ve heard the perch patrol was pretty good from a family friend.

I have went with the Perch Patrol 2 times, first experience was good, 2nd one not so much. Whoever you go thru, ask if you can bring your own rods/tackle/flasher or if they want you to use what they provide. Some guides have you bring your own stuff and others dont want you to bring your own due to the space it takes up

Went with perch patrol once, it was underwhelming. Woodland and perch patrol are a tourist trap imo

About 3 years ago we went with Bry’s Guide Service and fished out of a snowbear which was equipped with a Livescope and a 24 inch screen and it was excellent.  We caught lots of perch, walleyes and even a few silver bass.  They supply all the gear, electronics or you can use your own rods and reels.  We stayed at their Fish Rehab Lodge with 4 guys and it was perfect, we at breakfast in our unit, made packed lunches and fill small coolers with assorted beverages and fished all day in heated comfort.  For our dinners we each brought a prepared meal from home and even enjoyed a fish fry with all the fixings prepared by our guide on our last night.

I think Mike Howe guides out there now. He was guiding and running tournaments out west for years, but he moved to Devils Lake several years ago. He is a very knowledgeable guy with lots of experience.  Him and his wife won 1st prize at the NAIFC tournament at Hebgan Lake in Montana years ago. I will check and see if I still have his number and get back to you.
