Hyfax / runner help!
« on: Jul 23, 2023, 10:04 AM »
Hello All,

I know the Hyfax - runner question has been beat to death. However - I need to buy two sets (Snowdog Sled and Otter Large Sled) and I just bought an Eskimo 2600 that I want to do.

Does anyone have recommendations for something that will hold up a-lot better then the ones that I have? I have some skis - but can't see them holding up to parking lots.

I priced some plastic:

48x96x.5"thk UHMW 670.00 plus tax
48x96x.5"thk HDPE 385.00 plus tax

I'm in Canada so keep that in mind with prices. I am sure if I have them cut it it will be a bit more.

Has anyone come up with a solution that doesn't cost a kings ransom?

Thanks.

Go with the Otters. I put these on all my jet sleds that I pull behind my tracsled/snowdog. I always get the long ones and make them fit all the way up into the front lip and it really stiffens up a sled really good…. JMO..✌️✌️

I have both the HDPE on my x2
 And UHMWPE on my Eskimo
You’ll get better wear life out of UHMWPE, Eskimo  kits come with everything you need plus counter sink tool
 Eskimo and frabill use UHMWPE

I recently helped a buddy put the Frabill hyfax kit on his 2600 ...note the come in a set of 4 ...so two kits will be in order to get the job done. Nice hardware and are a solid runner . I got a set of Eskimo runners off Amazon Warehouse for a steal recently ..hardware is nice but the runner is not solid more of a track . But if you can find an Otter kit that may be best ...but they tend to be pricey ...at least in the states . Solid sheets that you can cut down to size can be pricey...if you have other uses or friends that can be a good option ...but dont forget the price of the SS hardware... but I would recommend thicker then .5 inches

Note.. I have installed the Frabill kit on both my Frabill Adventurer and my Eskimo Sierra as well as my buddy's 2600 ...I have no complaints

late to the party, but guys around here put feelers out at local hockey rinks and usually end up getting their old puck-board for free or at worst a case of beer.
