Forecast temps through March 10
« on: Feb 24, 2023, 09:04 PM »
For the northeastern NY locations I have as favorites on weather.com, I am liking the forecast temps through March 10. Making ice tonight and all day tomorrow and most of Sunday. Anything that was capped but questionable  before today should be fishable by Monday. Anything that already had safe ice will build more and extend the season well past March 10. Don't think about putting away your gear for at least the next 2 weeks, unless you only fish Lake George or won't drive north of Glens Falls to get on ice.

I went fishing twice this year. My gear is put away for the season. Typically March isn't an ice making month. Weather has been very mild as is..I will be chasing snowgeese. Good luck to all who is still fishing. Be safe.

I agree - sounds good for where I fish - was on 6 of the hardest inches of ice that I've see on Wed......

Yes sir!  Lot of good ice still to be had. I’d say mid march is looking good for handful of smaller lakes by me the farther north you go the better the ice. Been a very good catching year for me too! A lot of light is still getting threw the ice not like most years when there is 18” of ice and a foot or 2 of snow on top of that by now. Nice easy walking as well

If we are still fishing in mid March this year, I will be extremely satisfied with that, given how warm this winter has been. I never got on any ice until December 27, and that ice disappeared by January 14, but then came back again by early February. As I started the thread with, I am 99% sure I will still be fishing the weekend of March 10-11. Love the late ice for big panfish especially -  I have caught more than enough pike already this season, and while that was a blast I can't wait to get into the jumbo perch and slab crappies that like to show up on late ice  :o :o :o :o :icefish: :icefish: :icefish: :icefish: :icefish: :icefish: :icefish:
