Open water season I almost exclusively fish for musky, both pure and tigers and I’ve never seen one there.

If its the same one they say "Fish species present in the lake include bluegill, pumpkin seed sunfish, tiger muskie, brown bullhead, yellow perch, black crappie, large mouth bass, and pickerel. "   located by Lakeville, New York......

I don't think you are talking about the same Long Pond as this post is about. This Long Pond is near Smithville Flats.

KC...

Looking for advice on Long Pond, Smithville - but understand if you don't want to give it up... ;)

I have fished there extensively - but long, long ago - as a child and young adult with my Grandfather.  Got into snowmobiling (for 3 decades) but have aged out of that...so I've polished up the old equipment and added a thing or two and I'm ready for action.  Long Pond (and Whitney Point Reservoir) will be local and easy access with just a smidge of very old / outdated knowledge.

At Long Pond - my best recollection was fishing straight off the parking area and somewhat up against the islands (or are they floating bogs?) in 8 - 9 feet of water.  I had NO IDEA there was a 15' hole out in the middle as we never really consulted depth charts back in the day.

Anyway...anything you might be able to throw my way information wise would be appreciated...location ...baits rigs...

If not...no worries...see you on the ice..!

I put big minnows on the tip ups and let the kids chase flags.

Have fished Long Pond Chenango for several recent years with tipups and jigging without catching a tiger or seeing anyone else catching one.  Plenty of pickeral, mostly small .  Otisco Lake seems to be the    place to  find tigers.

Actually, I have never fished it before. So, I cannot give you any advice about it. I just know where it is located.
