Otter pro jump seat
« on: Nov 15, 2022, 07:38 PM »
Does anyone else have an Otter Pro jump seat?

If so, how does it “mount” to a 5 gallon bucket? I just bought one at bass pro and as best I can tell, it just sits on top of the bucket. Looking at the Otter website and product sticker, it looks like there should be a buckle clasp that keeps the seat folded during storage. Mine did not come with one so I’m wondering if there might be something else missing from the bottom that might make it “mount” to a 5 gallon bucket.

If this just sits on top of a bucket, I’ll probably return it for a padded bucket seat for ~$20. So far, kinda bummed with what you get for $70.

I think its setup to work with an Otter Sidekick (sits on the bucket).  Another $50.  I'm a fan of Otter gear but yeah this setup seems exorbitantly pricey when you consider you need to purchase 2 components.

Thanks for the replies folks. I appreciate it. I’m disappointed that this doesn’t even come with a rudimentary system for attaching the seat to the bucket. Looks like I’m going to return this to bass pro.

I have two of the jump seats.  My plan is to use them mainly when bucket fishing outside or the hub.  Dual purpose and small footprint as I always have a bucket with me.  While they don't seem to "lock" on a bucket I feel like they provide cushion as well as back support.

They are also quite heavy for what they are...which is just a seat...to be lugging with the rest of your gear.

Yeah, close to 8 lbs on that sucker. I don’t see how someone could use this on a bucket. Without my bibs on, the bucket felt like it was going to fall over. On the hard water with my bibs on, I’d bet it would just tip over.
