Called a friend that lives on West Grand yesterday. She said lots of slush. Gonna head up Wednesday to a place I can walk off and where there are some decent fish. I'll give you an update. I've heard a couple other lakes are NOT Good. So, be careful!

I don't have a report for the FRC, but I can tell you that we only got about 50 ft on to a lake to the west before burying a machine yesterday.  -25 degrees didn't freeze it up.

A friend of mine has a place on St.Froid and was out yesterday and reported the slush was very bad so I would assume that would hold true for the rest of the FRC.

When these start to rise in elevation slush will get worse.

I'm afraid it's going to take a major thaw and re-freeze to get rid of it.

fished Kezar lake on Saturday the slush made some slow going got the snow machine stuck that took most the morning, but did manage a halfway decent togue with the 3 hours we did manage to salvage at the end of the day to fish, a good 12 inchs of snow on top the ice with atleast 4 of that being slush, seriously underestimated the slush at the start of the day was more or less hoping for patchs of it instead of it covering the whole lake, things did manage to start to harden up by the end of the day but be careful out there

How’s the best way to manage slush with a snowmobile?  Yes, you can stay off or get a wheeler with tracks, an Argo or levitate but I’m taking about a snowmobile. The way I’ve handled it in the past is go out onto the ice towing nothing and go pretty fast and beat down trails by going over my tracks several times where we plan to fish then tow the gear out and never leave my previous tracks. Any other tricks?

Thats what I do, blaze a trail let it freeze up then haul your gear.  Just need to get it out of your track if its cold, slush will fill every crevasse of a track.  I have seen it neg 40 and if its covered with snow it will not heal up until it soaks up all snow or you beat it down.  Lakes are a mess up this way too.
If you wantah be a fishah you gotah smoke a swishah!
