Packing Graph in Flip Over?
« on: Jan 31, 2022, 10:20 AM »
Was wondering who packs their graph in tub of their flip over in situations that you're pulling it behind a snowmobile/4 wheeler. I have a Helix 7 that I've always carried in a big back pack but would like to move it in the tub, the only issue is I'm worried about protecting it enough so it does not get damaged. Has anyone found an effective way to do this? Has anyone tried this with disastrous results?

I just got a livescope bundle and put it in the tub for 1 trip.  There was hard packed snow in small mounds on the ice and even going slow it got more beat up than I liked.  It now goes in a milk crate strapped to my 2 up seat on my snowmobile

Thanks, yeah the terrain I go out on is pretty rough and usually will put on 10+ miles round trip every time I go out. Trying to make my set up as mobile as possible but it just may not be worth the risk, these electronics are pretty expensive to leave it up to chance lol.

On our lake they also seem to bounce out of the tub, based on the number of lost and found posts.

Not sure about the Helix, but a Vexilar Pro Pack II fits perfectly in a 3 gal. bucket. Even better if you install a Gamma Seal lid. The carry handle fits in one of the two "spokes" in the lid. When you screw the lid down the Vexilar has to spin with it to close. It can't move and is ultra secure. I have the 9/19 transducer on mine. It takes up the entire transducer holding cup. I secure it in place with an ice auger cover bungee. The bungee fits in the slots meant to hold the 'ducer cable. If you have a smaller diameter transducer, cut open cell foam to fit the cup and your transducer and glue the foam in place with hot melt. This set-up has been bouncing around in my Fish Traps for over 15 years without a single problem.
