Shanty Regulations
« on: Jan 10, 2022, 06:22 PM »
Hello everyone, I remember there being some rules that required permanently making your shanty with the owners information. I have a pop up shanty and  I  leave it out on the ice for a few days at a time and I don't want any trouble with the law. I also really don't want to permanently mark it just incase I want to sell it in a few years or so. I have looked in several different locations on the Vt fish and game website and I haven't been able to fine the regulations. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

You can find the full fishing regulations here: https://www.eregulations.com/assets/docs/guides/22VTFW.pdf

The section on shanties is on Page 21 and, yes, they must be labeled.

Just a quick tip, I buy trap tags off amazon, they are small copper tags custom engraved with whatever you want. They are designed to go on animal traps, but they work awesome for tagging pop-ups, shanties, deer stands, heck I even have one on my truck keys.

You can get 50 of them for $17. Saves a lot of time and headache!

Thanks bradroy55, that’s a great idea and I can think of many other uses as well.

Grab one of the paper versions at your local store. Just read it in there the other day. Definitely needs to be marked. Gotta mark.mine before the weekend!

Don't forget to take the safety certification class for using a portable heater.

I'm kidding. Bad joke.
