Snow removal for our lakes
« on: Jan 19, 2009, 08:26 AM »
I know I am just dreaming but gosh darn this snow is sure slowing the mobillity down on our lakes, so I was wondering if we could all chip in and get a bunch of quads with plows to plow our lakes ;D  Sounds kind of like that smokey the bear comercial trying to set up a sprinkler system for the national forests though.  O well just an idea.

That sure would be nice, can't fish half the places I would like too because of a long walk with no quad/snowmobile.

it sucks pulling all your gear.  The Concrete Slab 5600 doesn't do well in snow either.

But on the flipside the fish are less spooky with a good snow covering. ;D

If you plowed a path to your favorite spot, how many others do you think would show up?

I'd be happy if they just plowed the parking lots and roads to get to the lake......
NEVER lied about the size of the fish I caught.....just remember them being BIGGER!!

Fishyhands over on the M-S site talked with the County Commissioner and got the DNR access site cleared by the county on Thornapple. Something to do with tourism funds, I believe. Been avoiding that lake do to the  basically unusable access area, see a trip coming soon, a very good lake

I was just telling a buddy that if I hit the lottery I'm buying a helicopter to use for icefishing. He laughed, but wouldn't it be great? Tie your shanty and gear to it and lower it to the spot you want to fish. If the ice was thick enough you could just land and fish from it. One lake isn't producing, just fly to the next.

FOUR-WHEELERS ARE VERY GOOD AT WHAT THEY CAN DO BUT SOME PEOPLE OVERESTIMATE THEIR POSSIBLITTES.   I HAVE A POLARIS MAGNUM 500 4X4 WITH A 60" PLOW AND I CAN MOVE 16"-18" OF POWDER NO PROBLEM BUT PUT SOME DEEP HEAVY WET SLOPY SLUSH IN FRONT OF IT,,,,,,,,,,,,FORGET-ABOUT-IT, YA' JUST BEAT UP YOUR MACHINE. A NARROWER PLOW HELPS BUT ITS STILL A @#$TARD, ITS EVEN HARD TO DRIVE THROUGH THAT CRAP IF ITS TOO DEEP.

Hey splash, thats a pretty good idea. I had a little helli fly over me VERY low on my lake fishin' sunday and thought the same thing.
Only because I had just dragged all my crap half way across the lake in slush up to my @$$.
