Steve you know I've been fishing eagle for 32 years and the fishing just gets worst instead of better. Hunting at our camp in the southern part of the state peaked in the late 90s with them giving little permits. In 99 I saw 22 Deer before i shot a buck. Last year every one at camp had 2 doe permits and no one tagged out. I had 86 hours and never saw a Deer. The biologist say there are too many Deer down here. The deer are on posted land where you can't hunt and all
 the permits they are giving out just hurts were you can hunt. Now we have too many fish just like eagle has to many small fish, so they say.

I do feel pretty much the same way , Tick problem has them with over control in areas on deer in Southern zones. and Tick problem in the northern  moose areas is a problem in some areas , think they should look at the problem areas, and not lower poplutation over all. Fish problem I feel is mostly inviromental Phosphrous flow into large lakes and acid fall out has lowered the P.H. to a point that we lost our Smelts and White fish ,Big Sebago lost White fish big time and a few years later Moosehead lost there White fish and smelt pop lowered .Than a few years Chesuncook Caribou area lost the white fish and smelt pop ,The acid fallout and heavy cutting in areas along Golden road all the way to Canadian border, They want to cut a new powerline though western maine when they already have the Golden rd from Quebec  to the town of Millenocket , the new Quebec hydro line could if it  were to follow the Golden  all the way to Millenocket  would require less disruption through forest as the road is already in place and mostly clear cut along side road.  Why we have not heard any more about looking into this option.

I would have no quarrel with eliminating derbies altogether, with the exception of places like Sebago where they're trying to remove as many lakers and pike as they can. But that's just my .02

i agree. unfourtunitly the long lake derby was created when then rep danny martin was asked to use his pull to create a derby on long lake. the bios were against it but once again politicians overrode science! why bother having biologists if youre not going to listen to them. politicians are nothing more than power hungry bullies!
