Wow - even the name of a lake is too much to ask?  Seems as though a big part of the spirit of the shanty is gone.  You know - the sharing of some basic info and tips.  You can't convince me that the name of a lake is too much to share.  Getting everyone to agree on the answer is another matter.  I won't recommend a lake here as I don't feel qualified to answer.  However I have caught crappie on Conesus, Silver and now this year Honeoye.  Biggest for me have been Conesus, but I "hear" Honeoye can be pretty good (not first hand into though).

Bigdynamite appreciate the response, I’ve never targeted crappie on honeoye, only ever fished for walleye and perch there, I’ve caught quite a few crappie on silver tho and this year I’ve done pretty well on the new lake the state just opened clear lake.

Can't tell you. Haven't caught a legal size crappie all year. Wish I could find one. Lol

Outfisherman1 not sure where your located or how far it is from you but give clear lake a try, I was truly suprised based on all the negative posts I was reading about it during early ice. I would drive by and every parking lot would be jam packed so I kept driving thinking as the season went on guys would go elsewhere and they certainly have. Crappie bite is pretty steady lot of shorts but the keepers are there I’d say roughly 5 to 1 for keepers.

I saw that today actually, gotta say as I always enjoy time in the woods I’m a bit disappointed that they past it... I feel as if our season is already way to long to begin with, I’d rather seen an antler restriction put into place rather than an extended season. Just my opinion..

I live about 15 minutes from clear lake. All 8 3/4 inches. Very happy about the extended hunting. Helps out tremendously with work getting in the way of life. Lol

I would imagine clear lake is packed full of snow unless the wind blew it off. Didn't seem to the last time I went.

A few years ago, there was one really good year on Honeoye for crappies.  A lot of guys were catching a lot of big ones.  I even caught some nice ones targetting perch.  But it appears that that was a "fluky" year.  They still get them there, but not like that one year!

I have heard good things for years but the people I know that go every year and in general notice it’s not what it once was.

Crappie is for me the most fickle fish. I might get a load one day and the next day not a thing. Try again in the same place the following year and nothing again. Given the here today, gone tomorrow tendency I feel I would have to fish hard a good number of days on a lot of different waters to give a decent opinion. To be honest I most often get a bunch when I am targeting a different species. Grateful when it happens though!

WNY does not have a best ice fishing Crappie lake that is consistent year to year or day to day with good size fish being caught.  You can catch some good ones one year and not the next, or one day and not the next.  Now Spring spawn out in a boat that is a different story.  But for ice fishing go North my friend go North.
