Ok, me and the wife are heading up there on Sunday.  Looks like it's going to warm up nicely! Above freezing even! Hopefully the fish turn on after this nasty cold spell and their tummies go from aching under the high pressure to hungry with the low pressure.

My point was once you get there you are still not allowed to fish on the Canadian side.

I don't think anyone disagrees with that.  But the fishing on the US side in the angle is still better than Big Traverse, so people still have a reason to stay at the NW Angle Resorts. To daytrip to that area is 30+ miles.

Someone in this thread mentioned Baudette and the ice road over there. In my two visits to the area, we have paid $20.00 each day to use the road the lodges have joined together to make available to folks like ourselves. In exchange for that $20.00 it is my understanding that if by chance the road fails and your vehicle goes thru, they get the vehicle out for you on their time and dime. I am certain that if a person takes a sled ride out to the fishing ground, the cost of having the road built and maintained is included in the cost of the fare.
