It was just a question. lots of things in pa only make the state money. They don't care if you catch fish or harvest deer. They want the money. I don't trout fish but I love trout guys. They are catching them while I catch panfish and eyes. To each his own. BTW are carp good and do you ever target them under the ice?

I don't know about carp but caught a sucker through the ice while jigging for eyes the other day. I posted it on here and was told that it was a silver redhorse and that it is very good to eat.

Bro, take a xanax.

I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings by making a JOKE.  Jeez, some of you guys are super sensitive about this topic.  So to clarify:

1.  I do not think that anyone who eats a musky is going to h3ll.

2. I would never kill or eat a musky if at all possible to keep it alive, but that is my choice.  I'm not going to "burn your house down" if you do it either.  I do not understand it, but I honestly don't care.  Also, if you catch a big fish and you try to revive it but can't and choose to eat it rather than waste it, I think that's commendable.  I think most of us have been there.

3.  I never once "BASHED"  you or anyone else in this thread or any other threads that I've posted.  You are the one making comments using words like "hypocrite" and "stupid".  Point of fact.

So, like I said, I apologize if I hurt your or anyone else's feelings by saying you'll go to hell if you eat a musky. I didn't realize you would take it so literal.  So fisher 74...friends?  ...buds?  ....pals?  Bury the hatchet?...truce? I'm sorry too we will call a truce, I deal with with some weird people, down at raystown about keeping fish, the get me so mad they trigger me off

Redhorse taste similar to most panfish, but they are super, super bony. Easiest thing to do with them is just slab them off the spine, and grind it up into burger, because you'll never get all the bones out with a knife.

Also, make sure you know what you caught if you keep them. There are several species of redhorse, and a couple are protected..

If that’s you’re MO for making peace, I was offended too! Do I qualify for a beer?

Tight lines everyone and be safe!

I fish for them a lot in the summer on rivers. They love worms and crawlers on the bottom, but once in a while they'll surprise you and hit an artificial. I caught one over 6# on a beetle spin one time while fishing for smallmouth.

Any fish of legal size that you know won’t make it after release should be taken home..   JMO
That’s what happened to this pike last week.  Other wise it would have gone back...

Unless it’s MAhi in Florida I wouldn’t even consider buying grocery store or restaurant fish. Freshwater fish are gross compared to salt, nothing tastes better than a fresh slot snook

Carp is a delicacy in many Asian and European cultures.

The were intentionally introduced because of their taste believe it or not.

They also eat dogs, what’s your point

Aside from being a bit chewy, most people would eat dog and never know the difference if nobody told them. Failing to see the relevance, though 🤔

Carp meat is basically eating a fillet made of a mud line. It's very red & full of blood. It's made into dishes designed to mask the very strong flavor like baked with onions & garlic or soaked in wine for a day prior to cooking. Many places that they get eaten alot don't have easy access to other types of fish. One crazy fact that there are places where they have been targeted so much that they avoid baited hooks. Fisherman put the bait in a salmon skein and the hook is a few inches below in hopes that the Carp suck in the skein and the hook below. Some good videos on YouTube about it. Sucker on the other hand are the whitest meat you'll find in a PA fish. Very bony but pure white. I used to spear them when I was a kid and give them to a German lady in my neighborhood who would can them. They were very good. If you guys knew Van of vans sporting goods he would target them in the river at East Brady. He ground them and made a fish spread similar to tuna salad. You would believe how good it was.

And mostly used to clean up the waste of more desirable fish on fish farms. Then sold to people who think they are a delicacy.

Yeah man. They put them in ponds and wells after they farm raise striped bass to clean up. They also build chicken farms over the ponds and wells so the food they knock into the water as well as the excrement feeds the tilapia.

I use to eat tilapia until I saw on tv how they are raised and what they are raised for. I do believe it was on an episode of dirty jobs. Grossed me right out and never again will I eat one.
