Garmin Echcomap 73cv
« on: Dec 11, 2020, 04:38 PM »
Hi All -

Looking at getting a garmin echomap 73cv this year - would be used on a boat for general GPS needs.

Could anyone with experience using this for ice fishing let me know what their thoughts are?  I am also wondering how long the battery that comes with the package lasts per day.   Thanks!

I have a 73sv on the console of my boat and a 73dv on the trolling motor. I like both units. I use the 73dv for ice fishing and it works good using the gt-8 ice transducer. I've had them for about 3 years. Bigger screen then the elite-5 I was using. This year I picked up the Panoptix PS22 transducer to try on the ice. Now I'm just waiting for ice.

I have that unit. use it on the bow and use it on the ice with panoptix.   By far the easiest to use interface i've found.  and i've had lowrance and birds.  (older legacy models mind you)

Garmin 73cv Panoptix Ice kit. Love it other that a bit heavy but hell of a unit with all the features you will likely ever need. I have used mine in summer on my 13' inflatable to map a few lakes that didn't have contour maps. Mostly use on the ice.

I use my 73sv for open and ice, never had an issue.

Just buy a ice ducer if it did not come with one.
