Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to ice fish, have his wife mad for ever.

That’s the same one I been using for about two seasons he mentioned above. It has the bungee cord so you don’t loose your auger

I have used that one for a few years and it works great. Just make sure you remember to loop it over drill and tighten drill chuck.  Have not lost augur yet! LOL :) :)

https://www.fishusa.com/HT-Enterprises-Power-Ice-Auger-Adapter-Shaft   This is the one I chose. Drilled a hole through the center of a frisbee and fastened it onto the shaft with a couple hose clamps.

I have a ice master but I changed after one season to a clam plate.    It is a lot more comfortable to use the plate if you are going to drill alot of holes.

Thoughts on  adapters
,
1 chose adapter with machined flats on the drill arbor side.  vs plain round
2 choose material of steel or stainless  vs aluminum so your drill chuck doesn’t booger up the flats if it works or gets loose
3. choose or make A plastic round fall thru protector from a dollar tree frisbee
4. avoid the fall thru protectors  which are a piece of rectangle metal.     dangerous spinning blade
5. be sure the auger end of the adapter has diameter to match your auger female tube. not all the same

Cheers

Before i got a clam plate i used the kovac icemaster adapter for 5 years with no problem except the strap broke.thats a easy fix with a bungie cord tho..i just dont like the adapters with the big bulky frisbee type safety on them.

For a 6 inch drill, there is not a great need for a Clam plate, and if you use an adapter that replaces the chuck, and can not fall off unless you run the thing backwards, there is no need for a frisbee to keep it from going down the hole- the drill itself is too big.

Your drill is attached to the auger for the season, but your chuck is safe inside the house, and will not get wet and rusty.
