Just depends on you. I don't use MH rods, myself personally. I usually go from M straight up to H. It also just depends on how familiar one is with certain mfg rods types. I had bought years ago 2 Cabelas XML 7' H spinning rods, they were 2 pieces as since I only had a little car back then. Since then I've use those two rods for anything from catfish to pike fishing. The rods were rated 1/2 oz to 1 1/2 oz. So that covers majority of my lure weights. Yes I've use the rods for panfishing before and it suits me just fine too.
I've matched reels from a Stradic 2500/3000 and 4000 reels on them.
I have like a St. Croix Salmon rod, MH power one in 8'6" and one in 9'6" that I use for river wading at times.
I did just grabbed to St. Croix LE 6'8" MH bait casting rods just over Christmas. So haven't used them and it's actually my first MH rods for bait casting.
