Fold-able plank
« on: Mar 06, 2020, 10:28 AM »
Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any ideas for a foldable plank that can fit in a pick up bed? Maybe even something that can break down? Looking like I will need one for my vaca next weekend so I am looking for ideas to be able to get onto the ice and get my sleds on as well in the event that the shoreline is soft or open water.  Thank you!
Just add water.

put a hinge in the  middle of a 2X12 leave the hinge towards the water and it should get you on and off the water/.

Do not think we will need a plank for a bit still around here maybe in a few weeks

We just got a week of warm weather and was worried about the ice but then I drilled a couple of holes and wanted to document the amount of ice we had this year in march. Only 4th time out this year and have not seen ice like this in several years.

This is exactly what I did except I put 2 hinges on it and also removable braces.

I pull my 6' alum collapsible scaffold plank onto the ice.  Sounds cruel but that plank was meant for my safety.  If someone uses your plank and gets hurt or worst, you maybe liable.

Saw a guy use an extendable ladder once.

I built an 8' plank with an 8' 2x10 with supports attached length-wise on the underside. The 2 end ones also fit over the tailgate of the truck so it won't slide.

Haven't had to use it for some time and I may have to rebuild it (or make a new one) if needed in the future.

The planks are coming with me on my sled.

I often thought of the "What If Scenario" concerning the leap of faith should I need it ..then wondered what to do with the "solution" after I get on the ice ..KISS just bring my Smitty sled and if need be make some EZPZ way to incorporate my plank(s) into or onto the Smitty and bring them with me .
