Ever since I got my Ridgid Octane, I've wanted to try my 10" Strikemaster Lazer Pro Auger bit with it. I finally paired the two, and it cut better than I imagined!!! Couldn't tell the difference between the 8" Strikemaster Lite Flite, and the 10" auger!!!

If interested, Check out the footage!!

Those Ridgid drills have some muscle to them. You've got the auxiliary handle set in the right position for maximum leverage, I see. Been preaching that setup myself. Good blades too. No hanging up at all. My Ridgid will also just stop dead sometimes if I girlythingfoot around as yours did on hole one. Nice rig for when nothing but a big hole will do.
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.

Spot on!!! The first hole was 100% my fault. It was cutting so fast I was a little uneasy with that heavy bit!!

Great video man!

Can that Flite Lite do side by side holes?

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

Pretty confidant saying yes, but haven’t tried it yet. I’ll try it on my next outing

Do you think a chipper 10” would work?

If it can punch holes side by side, then there is no need to buy an extension for it. Just have to get a pool noodle and gorilla tape it on the shaft like the kdril has so you can eliminate that damnable frisbee

A sharp chipper, most likely. An older dull Model 30 chipper, prob not. But who knows, it may.

I’m sure it would do side by side, but would have to try it. And I would do some foam device instead of the disc.

Do you need to mod a handle that is attached to top flight for pull out of hole?

I know it’s out of season but I’m going to try to locate a pool noodle to see if I can make something like that work. Heck, might even call kdrill and see if they sell just the foam piece as a replacement 😬

Haha. No, was just being extra cautious, didn’t want the auger to come unchucked.

Look into a foam roller. It’s high density foam. Comes in different colors. Amazon has them for around $10. That’s what I’ll likely use.

My rigid will cut out at times also what am I doing wrong? Thought it was to much down pressure but now I’m thinking not enough pressure?

Search for “jumbo pool noodle” on amazon. Read the description, it seems that might be the way to go in stead of foam rollers.

Have any of you tried a pool noodle on the auger bit? I had one on my 6" lazer and I wasn't sure it was enough to float it. With a 10" bit, you may need more than a pool noodle to keep it topside.

A few possibles. 1) if your blades are grabbing instead of cutting It may be stopping your drill. 2.) if you let off the trigger a little, like I did on the first hole of the cut in this video, it sometimes will stop the drill. 3) may be putting too much pressure on the drill/auger. 4) if your drilling a bunch of consecutive holes, it may be sending your drill into protection mode. 5) your settings may be off. Setting 1, drill mode is preferred.

That’s why I was thinking the foam roller. They’re quite a bit larger in diameter, and denser than a pool noodle. A pool noodle would be fine for the 5lb Augers, but may not hold a 10” steel auger.

Actually I was referencing an early comment about a lite flite (which I now have) being able to punch connecting holes with respect to the pool noodle. I agree that the 10” bit would likely need a pool raft to keep it topside 😬

Right. Also in the description it made mention of using a more dense foam for added buoyancy. I’m gonna roll the dice!
