I own a Panoptix and really like it. My friend just got a Livescope and am anxious to try it out when we get ice here in Iowa. What I don't think people realize until they see either unit in person is how large / bulky they are. They are not units you are going to grab with one hand and hole hop with. Point being MN has a lot of dedicated ice fisher men/women with ice houses vs. the casual person with their 1-2 man flip over. Much easier to use the Panoptix and definitely the Livescope in an ice house set up than in a hut given their size.
I don't hole hop. One thing to remember is often when I fish it is -20 of less and a wind. Not much fun to sit outside in that kind of cold.
It is possible to be outside, but why? That is what shelters and heaters are made for.
I have a 1 man flip, a 3 man flip and a Pop-Up. I use the Livescope in all of them. Not to bulky for a small flipover.
The main issue is not that it is bulkier but it has to have the Transducer on the shaft to point it. That makes it far more cumbersome to hole hop - and hole hopping is too cold anyways.
