Water of Life

Inspired by the cigar thread, what your preferred whiskey/whisky/scotch/bourbon for the ice?

I tend to prefer scotch and my EDC is Glenfarclas 10 or 12. I've been really into Buffalo Trace in the bourbon world lately. I used to drink a lot of Irish whiskey but have been off them for a couple years because the local Muni doesn't stock many (I would take suggestions of something new to try).
Hardwater fisherman since 2014. All opinions subject to change as experience increases.

Anything with the words "Bottled in Bond" on it for Bourbon.

Willies Distillery, Ennis, Montana. Bighorn bourbon, Canadian Blend or Honey Moonshine, bar none some of the best whiskey I've put through my lips. On a normal day, just good ol' cowboy killin' Pendleton or BV.
East of the Rockies and west of the rest, I do my best to do my dangedest and that's about all I guess.

Tully....
40 Creek...
Basil Hayden...

But realistically if I have a flask with me it's going to be Wondermint or Ginger Brandy.

When I'm up for something besides beer it's Crown Royal for me... although I usually don't drink much when I'm fishing. A guy I fish with always brings tequila when we go and everyone has to take a drink after we drill all our holes but before we start dropping lines in. Its our good luck charm.  ;D

I’m a big fan of anything with cinnamon in it. Jack Fire is preferable but I’ll deal with Fireball..

Usually the most expensive whiskey I drink is Jameson, and I'm way too cautious and cheap to bring that out on the ice. That's a drink reserved for my bar at home. I like both Jack and Kack fire, and I may be the odd man out here, but I like the various Canadian blended whiskeys. Black velvet, crown royal, Canadian club, Canadian mist etc. all go down well with me, and my wallet!

Very nice great thread...I enjoy Bulleit Bourbon Frontier or Bulleit Rye if that fits into my budget.  I don't feel like anyone drinking crown can go wrong.  Otherwise I like a nice dark beer or stout as well especially with the stogie of choice.

Templeton rye. Not till I get back home. I make my living driving, so can’t afford a DUI. Now if I am riding anything cinnamon. Another thread folks were talking about things that are now leagle in some states again can’t afford to fail a urinalysis. Not that I would ever inhale! ;)

Don't drink any booze while fishing.
Booze and fishing go together like drinking and driving, smoking crack and chainsaw juggling, shooting smack and knife throwing.

In other words, when working with sharp objects that can become airborn, I want a clear head at all times.

I'm not knocking drinking, I'm an old Jamesons man from way back.
I just can't recall great fishing stories involving the phrase "I was blotto when I got that trophy fish!"

But besides my "tee-totaling" commentary, I DO like the selections brought to the table so far!

I'm pretty simple, I drink Makers Mark.
Quote- fishslap: I use a variety:  whistlin' bungholes, spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistlin' kitty chaser

Sip on a flask of makers mark from time to time but never enough to get blitzed (have to drive home), just enough to get warmed up inside or lift the spirits when the fish aren’t biting. Rest of the time it’s coffee from the thermos.

Wild Turkey 101, and I have great fishing stories that also involved a high consumption of adult beverages. Biggest catfish of my life as well as snagging paddlefish.....

If I do any drinking, it’s usually Jameson whisky, though I do love a single malt.
