Shappell FX100 Sled Wear Bars installation question
« on: Dec 20, 2018, 03:21 PM »
Hi all,
I got a Shappell FX100 flipover and before I put it together I also got the sled wear bars.

Before I start drilling holes, the wear bars instructions indicate to place the outer wear bars on the outer most rail of the sled. Just wondering if this is the ideal rail for those outside bars, or moving them inward one rail.

Here are sample pictures for reference.

Or does it not even matter?

Thanks in advance.

good thinking ahead. i went in one rail too because the outer rail is not flat. i've had 4 different fx100's that i added them to.
best to start on the nose when attaching them.

is this the black frame version? if so you might hold up installing them and make sure it's some thing you want to keep. they have quit making them until they get their act together.

my  bars are on the outside.the outside corners wear out faster than any other part of the sled.been on for 3 years no problems or  wear really.

I have the silver frame version. I was ninja-price-spying it on Amazon and got it back in August when the price dropped. It has sat in the box in my garage until now.

I think I might install the outer wear bars one sled rail inward since those are flat.

Thanks.

your ok then.
yep the outer rail is D shaped and a lot of weight on the tub surface and it could get caught on some thing easier with the gap the D makes between it and the hy-fax. you could always get more of it later if you see wear, but i never do.

Interesting enough, the front of the Shappell Wear Bars instruction sheet shows the outer bars on the inner rails of the sled, but the back of the sheet instructs to install them on the outer most rails.

Oh well...first-world problems, I guess. Oh woe is me.  ;D ;)

Thanks.
