Is it time to put new line on
« on: Nov 19, 2018, 06:27 PM »
Getting the itch to go out, we have ICE up north and wondering who is switching line out. I am thinking similar to last year I had two poles with 100% fluorocarbon 3lb and two poles with braid 3lb. I fish with my son and we only use one pole at a time normally for pan fish only.

I kept track and only used the poles with fluorocarbon, it worked better than I thought it would. Prior to this I was using braid and a fluro leader.

I always get confused what I should try, the one thing I do not like about the braid it seems to get sticky towards the end of year for lack of words.

I am sure there are a million threads but I wanted to post and get some ideas before I head to Scheels.

Thanks

Braid with a 4 or 5 ft flouro leader an all my rods.  Best of both worlds.   Suffix 832 and berkley vanish.

I spool up with fireline, but it hardly ever touches the water as I put on 20-30ft of fluoro as the “working” line. Since I usually fish in 25ft or less, it’s usually just the fluoro in the water and the fireline doesn’t get wet unless I catch something that peels it out.
