we got a whopping 6"... wet heavy pasty crap.. it took down trees and power lines everywhere around me.. I never lost power but I had to drive on the side walk 3 times to avoid downed cable and power lines on the way to work after spending an hour cutting tree limbs out of the drive way so I could clear it...My favorite dog wood split right down the middle.. tomorrows mission is to use the winch on the wheeler and a block and tackle to winch it in place and bolt it back together.. after I cut up all the tree limbs and run them through the shredder..
I am on the NH seacoast. 6-15” of heavy wet stuff depending on the local.Rocco’s our dogwoods got hammered too. There is some gunk you can add to the main leader which supposedly will help, but in our experince doing it quickly and as you said booting them together is your best bet. If it’s possible try to support the branches to with some wire so when it blooms it doesn’t snap itself again. Always my least favorite part of these storms is the damage it does to the plants.
.. Ive done this a few times to my dog wood.. apple and peach trees... after the limb is back in place.. and lagged together ...I usually run a padded wire support ( length of garden hose) around the limb for support.. then wrap the damaged area tightly with sheet rubber.. you can apply elmers glue to the outside of the damaged area to stop the flow of sap... everything is time sensitive lest you loose the limb...a fair sized pine bough fell on my boat,, breaking the winter frame( no harm to the ship).. I was planning on unwrapping it anyway
LOL! Its almost that time anyways Joe!
Yup.. I bought a Lowrance Hook2 9TS with my birthday and Christmas money... I need to install that ..it'll be a serious upgrade over the current 5" 10 year old fish finder..
