Going this weekend and would like to know if anyone can verify that they are driving on ice?
Thanks!

Give Bruce a call. He'll let you know. Got my annual trip there on 2/21. Can't wait. Always a great time

Heading up on the 8th for the first time with my father.  Is it mostly pike and perch in that area or could we see lakers and whites also?

You can find all the above depending on where you fish in that area. Even throw Walleye, Smallies, Largemouth, and Bowfin in the mix.

Just got back from Holiday harbor, fist off Bruce is the best. He was very accommodating and even upgraded are room. As for the fishing it was great, fished 2 days and caught over 20 fish. Can’t wait to go back next year. Here’s a picture of our best catch 7.89lbs

Yes I believe there were 6-7 out. Ice was very thick and we had our truck out on the ice.

Bruce is the best and keeps track of the conditions. Make sure when you get tips from him to listen to his warnings about bubblers that can develop inside macomb bay just to the south of his place. Most of the time in cold season things are good but at times holes open up. Most are marked with brush or xmas trees. Fish do live there as his sign says...LOL

First time out of Holiday Harbor, Bruce was excellent about everything. We fished Friday frontal conditions blowing like all hell out of the North.
Sat -5 at dawn was nice and then wind started from the South and did not let up. Sunday wind was the worst. Sled was picked up and bait
bucket went 0 to 30 mph in seconds now residing in Canada. Ice was roughly 16-18 inches although I personally did not check. Ice was thick
enough I was comfortable driving a newer pickup on it. Black ice is nice...

Fishing was good considering frontal conditions. We C&R about 10 pike with 3 over 30 including a nice heavy 34, 8-9 pounds perhaps.
We were set up at or before dawn each morning. Gang of 8

Nice going, TRT and Frustaci!  Did you guys fish right near Holiday Harbor or venture elsewhere?

So that was your crew out there! Saw you guys Saturday driving through the islands. Not many people out fishing. The wind was brutal this weekend, yesterday was the worst.

Yeah wind, frontal conditions made for a long tired weekend but really nice to fish out in front of where you are going to sleep.
I rarely drive on ice and plenty of ice this year at least in the islands.

We fished in the shanty the first day and the others we fished right outside our room. Plenty of fish in both spots.

Had a great weekend here. Caught 11 pike and a ton of perch.  Lost a few bigger pike when the line snapped. This was our first time up here but won't be our last.
