Yesterday was a perfect day to fish. Bright sunny sky...no wind (which is something quite rare on lake champlain)...was lazy this morning so I started fishing around 10am. Punched 5 holes in 20 FOW. 17" of ice. First 2 holes was ok. 3 good perch in 10 minutes....looking good for the day...than gave a shot in the third hole...WOW!...the bite went crazy...didn't get a chance to eat, drink or even pee from 10 to 4pm....the last time I had a frenzy feeding like this was 2 years ago...I could barely believe it. The kind of day that you put the end of your rod in your mouth while putting your gloves on but it's so crazy that you have to set the hook with your mouth? Know what I mean? So, over 200 in 6 hours. 50 in the 11"+ range....beautiful day. Lots of people on the ice sharing the same passion, lots of "yahooos" because fellow fishermen we're catching good fish here and there...exchange a few words with the game warden on my way to the boat launch.....all in all, yesterday was a great day.......I love ice fishing!
