Mendota has good ice

Walked out there yesterday off Gov Island looking for some perch. Found a good 6+ inches of ice and there were 4 of 5 ATVs with some permanent shacks already out there. I had very low expectations for fishing due to the weather but at least I got a few

Haven’t made it out yet on Dota.  How has the fishing been?  Anyone get into the big gators yet?

Last time I went out on Mendota was on 1/7 (I was fishing Rainy Lake MN on 1/13 & 1/14). On 1/7, I just went for perch and did OK, the bite was decent for an hour in the morning, mid day was very slow and then it picked back up around 2 a little again
