Had that same thing happen from amazon with a Marcum LX5i flasher, at $100 off. Wasn’t happy.

The Decent I was playing with wouldn't drop a number 10 lead Marmooska by itself even though I backed off the adjustment knob on the side that adjusts how fast it spins freely.  Could it be that I have the line wound too tight or it has to break in?

Try cleaning the shaft and spool hole and adding a very thin coat of hot sauce or another very light oil.
You might want to check the free fall adj. knob the little rubber thingie might be rubbing in the spool all the time.It should spin with out any resistance.

Love my 6061!! First year with it, and aside from the line occasionally wrapping around the spool knob, it has performed flawlessley. Fished all day outside with temps ranging from -3 to 5 degrees and have never had it freeze up yet. Very impressed with that part!!!! ;D

I put a light coat of RemOil on it and now the line feeds out nice and fast even with the number 10 Marmooska.  Thanks for the info.

Mine just showed up. Pretty impressed with initial feel. Drops a small jig super fast in the house. All put it to the test on the ice this weekend!

I have 3 of the black betty 6061.  Absolutely love them.  It does take some time to get use to using them when you use spinning reels.  The biggest thing with the 6061 is how smooth the drag is.  Best drag on the market for in-lines per my opinion.  Nez

Wouldn't trade my 13 black Betty reel and rod for any other. One time line got behind spool. Simply loosened spool nut, removed spool and quickly fixed the problem. Fished the other morning at 7 below zero. No problem. Can't lay reel in snow will freeze up.

Haven't heard much about the Ghost in this thread, but I have the Decent, Black Betty Freefall and a Ghost and the Ghost is my go to number one reel, got it set up on an older model Wicked rod (metal rod seat) and I totally love that Wicked Ghost.... Problem is, so does everyone that goes with me and they all end up using it after I'm catching all the fish on it and I can't tell them no when they ask to try it... Great set up...I need one more so I have a company rod... Later J
