I noticed that today when my copy arrived!
Times are tough I guess, yet the number of advertising pages in
other so called Hunting and Fishing Publications such as Outdoor Life, Field and Stream, Sports Afield and a host of others keeps growing to the point where more advertising than content is the norm. Just look at the thickness of issues of 1950s 60s, and 70s of these premier rags, quite a difference in the size of each issues of the past, plus less advertising.
In the past few weeks, I have received dozens of subscription solicitations for Outdoor Life,Sports Afield, and Field and Stream. Price offerings ranged from 5.00 to 8.00 per year, well, well below normal subscription rates, and news stand prices, and if you take a yesr at 5.00 or $ 8.00 they even throw in a diddy bag, knapsack, knife, ruler or what not!
Not one of the above rags competes with the very interesting and well targeted coversge of New York Ice Fishing or warm water fishing that is provided by New York Outdoor News. So if they screw up and publish a duplicate cover photo, must have been thin ice at a local lake and the paid staffer did not want to chance a " soaker" lol
