i use both inline and spinning.--inline is a must for gills .spinning for pimples.some spoons, rapalas RAT
Riverrat, I was thinking just the opposite but haven't put my theory to the test yet,I know you have way more time on the water than I so I'll try both and let you know. F4W
I suppose inlines would be fine in deeper water, I just wouldnt use them for lake trout in 100 feet of water. I have a black Betty that I’d fish for panfish in less than 20’ and love it.
I have used the eagle claw reels with mixed results. the drag system is usually poor quality. A couple yrs ago I got a Frabill 371 and I now have 4 of them. the best inline reel you can buy. Great for panfish and if you hook into something big the drag system will allow you to tire him out. Last winter I landed a 5 & 7 lb walleye on 3 lb test. The gear ratio is consistent with the model number. the 371 is just that 3 to 7.1 they also sell a couple less expensive models with slower retrieves. try one.
Here are some but no gaints on 6061s
I have black betty 6061, tear drop, and a eagle claw inline. Just picked up a 13 fishing decent or something like that. I really like the inline reels better then spinning reels. I still use spinning reels because I have like 20 of them though on my rods I don't use often.
That’s the one I ordered the 13 decent. Looked around a bit and found it to be one of the best for price.
The 13 Fishing Free Fall is far and away my favorite inline. Also have the 6061, Frabill 371,Eagle Claw and that ridiculous Tear Drop. Such a terrible design.
I’ve got an eagle claw and a no.8 in-line. They work fine I put them on my lightest rods strictly for panfish, and put my spinning reels on my heavier rods for walleye etc. I think they work nice I like the free fall drop on them, the only downside for me is the drag isn’t very good on them, erratic is the best way i can describe it, not smooth at all. I know there are videos on how to adjust this so I may try it at some point.
