A crack in my FX100!
« on: Dec 04, 2017, 03:10 AM »
Hi!

I´ve had a Shappell FX100 since november 2013 (VERY happy with thankyouverymuch) and last weekend i found out there´s a crack on the floor! About an inch roughly.

Sometimes, like past weekend, i found myself on ice with a little bit of water on it. Since the floor leaked, all the gear standing directly on the floor became wet...

Does anybody know how to fix that crack?

Sinc,
Dennis Berg

The all important and useful - Shoe Goo.   Its not nice but it fixes everything including shoes. Geo.

The very first thing you need to do is drill a small hole on each end of the crack!! That will stop it from getting bigger! Then a small fiberglass patch or even the Shoe Goo. The holes relieve the stress and spreads it out to stop it. Good luck!!!

2 part epoxy with hundreds of 1 inch sections of light braided line. Poor man's fiber glass patch.

I used jbweld and pushed fiberglass screen into it.  Inside and out, holding good.
I fish a lot....I catch a little.

Fiddeled about with some plastic padding yesterday, i think it did the trick.

There will be a hard test tomorrow, fishing a fishingcontest for huge rainbow trouts (20 lbs +)...

If it is a wear out crack you may want to do something like Ice Hyfax Shelter Kit for yourself if you do not have them already.
May your tip-up spool while your flag raises with hopes of landing the big one.

anyone know what these sleds are made out o? HDPE? PS? I'm going to try to plastic weld a couple wearout cracks I have in my fish trap pro (and yes, I've now added hyfax runners).
