help with my quick flip 3
« on: Dec 20, 2017, 02:16 PM »
hey guys, so I bought an older green eskimo quick flip 3 from an older gentleman on craigslist and he knew nothing about the dang thing. It came with 5 support poles but I have no idea where they go. Also, I need to get a new travel cover for it, measures approximately 74" x 45". anyone know where I can get one? Two of the poles appear to be broke, one of the hooks on one of them is broke and the other just has a black piece of metal sticking out one side (don't know if that one is broke or what its for). last question I got is how/where do you use the ice screws to get her down and sturdy on the ice when its windy? I couldn't find any holes or anything so I was wondering if you just buy a screw that goes round the frame or what? my first guess would be on the frame on the two corners opposite of the sled is all that is needed to stake her down. Last question is where to get some ice screws for this type of tent?
tight line,
MTF

As far as the screws, Sportsmans warehouse  has them. I just screw one into the ice and wrap the tow rope around it a couple times and call it good. Not sure thats the correct way but nothing has blown away yet.

i would assume that your weight in the sled would be enough of an anchor for that side of the tent, but i'm talking about the other side that you flip over onto the ice. do you ever anchor that side down? I know that you face it away from the wind, but i'm curious about anchoring it

not sure about that...have always just faced that side away from the wind like you described , tied tow rope off to the anchor screw and  and packed snow onto the skirt.

I have gone sailing in my QFII on Holter before. Not fun. The way I anchored mine was to put an anchor off each back corner, and take a rope and put it around the entire sled and the 2 anchors. Pull it all tight and then flip and fish. The poles are spreaders that hold the flip poles apart in wind. I rarely used mine. The one with the black plastic sticks into the hole on the back of the sled and then clips to the first bar. The clips suck and break easy. You can get replacements from Eskimo.

Eskimo Anchors are FAR superior to other brands. Buy them if you can.

Thanks guys for the input, I’ve been able to track everything down but a dam cover. That large ice sled cover that cabelas makes is too short. The dimensions on my sled are 45x74” give or take. Any suggestions?

It doesnt say the dimensions of the covers, but the Resort is:

COLLAPSED DIMENSIONS

84″ L x 44″ D x 22″ H

Might work, but tough to say without trying to put it on.

Try Montana Canvas in Belgrade, I think they will build you about any kind of cover you could want.

Oh shoot, sorry that may not work for you, I saw Grizzhackle's location, whoops

I got my cover from Sportsman's Warehouse years ago. You can probably get online and find one from them. If not, check fleet Farm or one of the other Eskimo dealers, or call Artisam. The cover will most likely be red now, but is the exact same size as the old green one. Artisam will also have the plastic clips and other parts for your poles. There should be two extendable poles. They go in front, between the top and bottom conduit frame on each side of the door, as far to the sides as possible. There are also two regular poles (non extendable), one shorter than the other.  The shorter one goes between the middle and rear conduit frames in center of tent. The longer one goes between the middle and front frames. The longest pole with the black thing sticking out goes in the hole in the middle of the rear lip of the sled. The other end clips to the top conduit frame.
