Going to be a restless night. Quad is loaded, all the gear is in and checked and rechecked, auger is sharpened up and gassed up, lunch is packed. Hittin one of my favourite little walleye lakes tomorrow. Unfortunately it's going to be a short day my partner has to be off the ice by 2 pm but we will be on it at first light, but I'll take it for a first day.
Hopefully have a few pics and an update tomorrow evening.

Same here! Heading to the hills 9,000 ft . 3"-4" of ice. among the 1st dozen or so to fish it. Good luck!

Back from first ice day. Wasn't the most successful day as far as fish landed but still, any day fishing is a good day. We only managed a handfull of small Pike landed, and a few dropped fish, may have been Walleye as they felt so under the ice. They were biting light, very deep water. Minnows were the best today on 1/4 oz Chartreuse jig head was the best producer. With a couple on my new glow spoons. Didn't bother with any fish pics but got a few of the day anyways. Drove on the ice and parked and used the quads, ice isn't bad about 12" average, not quite enough for the big Duramax yet.

Couple things learned from first trip, don't like the fly reels I'm trying for ice reels, to slow of retrieve caused me to lose a couple today, had to hand bomb them. New rod holders worked great love em.

Some roast Moose sausage on the fire for lunch is always good.

Incredible thanks for posting. For me it's not about the catch but the time spent with family and friends. Fish are just a bonus.

sure you are aware of the selections of inline ice reels,that have better retrieving ratios. Very kool that you all are getting out, it will be weeks in this neck of the woods!

Yes I have been eyeing them up for a bit and actually went and checked some out yesterday. First off price is crazy, for the better ones $150, to much for an ice reel for me. Second and this sealed it, they are to bulky to fit into the compartment I have built in my quad box and unlike a spincast you can't fold up the handles. I am glad I checked them out because I was also looking at ordering some online but they wouldn't work for me it would have been a huge waste of money.
This is my box I made a couple years back for ice fishing my rods fit in the top flip up lid.

I decided instead to go with these Baitcats from HT. nice little reels fit in my box nicely, good drag on them and at $35 a pop decent price range.
